I am not that in tune with the arts of Atlanta, nor architecture and design for that matter. But, I see that it is imperative for Atlanta to keep significant buildings around. One reason I may be out of touch with the arts is because this city (in which I grew up in) is detached from them because of political and economic incentives. Take Portland. It has a cultural materialism much different than Atlanta. If Atlanta has a cultural materialism that isn't in fact just plain industrialism. Atlanta has hip-hop...yeah, anyways. We are very detached from the arts. Which is a shame. The arts are very nurturing. Maybe I'm just out of the loop though. Maybe there is an extensive arts culture in Atlanta.
But I will confidently state that Atlanta is much more focused on industrialization than cultural materialism.
