Design Jargon * Herringbone

Herringbone (pronounced HAIR-ing-bohn)
Used to describe a traditional type of pattern of adjoining vertical rows of slanting lines, any two contiguous lines forming either a V or an inverted V, used in masonry, textiles, embroidery, etc. Once you are aware of it, herringbone can be found almost everywhere you look. The word can also be used to describe the fabric itself, rather than the pattern on the fabric.
