Daily Update + Things I’m Thankful For

Every year, just as Halloween passes, and the reality of the impending Christmas shopping season takes residence, a single question arises: What are you thankful for?  The Thanksgiving holiday has been celebrated in the United States since 1789, when President George Washington proclaimed that the annual date for Thanksgiving was to be on the 4th Thursday of November.  Traditionally, Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks to God and express gratitude in general.

With that in mind, I took time to think about what I’m truly thankful for.  I’m definitely thankful for obvious things such as my sight, hearing, ability to walk, talk, and lead an independent life.  So, besides the obvious… what else am I thankful for?

  1. The friends I’ve made through Discover: ID and all of the wonderful comments + support I’ve received over the past year.  (The fact that complete strangers are so willing to reach out is truly amazing.)
  2. The support and love given to and returned by my family and friends.
  3. My awesome boyfriend who believes in me, constantly encourages me to grow, and makes killer iced chais.
  4. The increase in self confidence I’ve felt in the past year.
  5. Having a positive outlook.

I could go on forever about random things (like how I’m thankful for french fries or for passing LEED), but those five things + people above are what I am truly grateful for this year.  I hope all of you find the time to pause and give thanks.  If you’d like, feel free to share them in the comments or write a post your self.  I’d love to read them.  All the best!

    I took a computer hiatus over Thanksgiving so I’m playing catchup. :) I’m thankful for the necessities as well, but mostly for my family. And for being able to do something that I enjoy for a living!!
