2009 Wallcovering Roundup

New York, New York: This wallcovering from F. Schumacher & Co. reminds me of the drawing/animation you’d find in Disney’s 101 Dalmations. I could see this print covering an entire wall in a modern space or a sample of it framed. If New York city doesn’t strike your fancy, Schumacher also has Views of Paris.
Genevieve Bennett’s Sculpted Leather wall panels (shown here in black and white stucco). As its name suggests, Stucco resembles molding sculpted on a plaster wall, but it is actually a cleverly designed, three-dimensional wall panel adorned with cut leather pieces. I, personally, love it in black. It’s so glamorous!
Cattle Kate: Designed by Katie Deedy, Grow House Grow’s Parlour Room Collection, has chosen several individuals, all interesting and mysterious in their own right, and asked: what would their parlour room have looked like? The adventurous and curious lives of Cattle Kate, Aleister Crowley and Captain Smith are their subject.
Organic Organization: The seven patterns in the new, hand-printed Organic Organization collection were inspired by nature and life at the cellular level. Kelly Porter, the artist behind the new line, leaves its precise subject matter open to interpretation, suggesting that her abstract nuclear shapes might portray microscopic cells, an exotic animal hide, clouds, or even hand-torn paper.
Monique: (Shown here in Gilded Mare and Wind in Her Hair) Inspired by Martha’s Vineyard vacations, Madison & Grow has released a new collection consisting of 5 patterns.
Madison: see information under “Monique” above.
Eden: I love this all over leaf patterned wallpaper because you can leave it white for a clean, fresh look or paint it any color you choose! That means the opportunities are endless. I spotted it in Interior Design magazine, painted a warm gray, and it looked amazing.

Matthew Patrick Smyth Collection: Here you Matthew’s newest collection for F. Schumacher & Co. Pictured in the center is his Gabrielle Strip in Graphite. The inspiration for this new wallcovering was Matthew’s own Gabrielle Embroidery fabric. I like the subtle texture that was created by surface printing and the “string of pearls” look it gives.
