Classic California Design meets Southern Hospitality in Georgia

Homeowner Judith Schindler and her friend Sudi Cecil, both designers, immersed themselves in the completion (including the design, building, and decorating) of Schindler’s 12,500-square-foot home in just a single year. The results are fresh and exude the easy elegance of Californian design.
“I can picture Jean Harlow or Grace Kelly sitting in their satin dresses having cocktails with Cary Grant in this room.” – Judith Schindler

How beautiful is this bathroom? Honestly – what girl wouldn’t love walking down that tiled hallway towards that claw foot tub?

The Carrera marble on the countertops and backsplash is a great touch. As Judith Schindler says, “It gives off a very classic and clean look.” Sudi Cecil admits that, “Even though the marble stains easily, it ages so beautifully, just like a Persian rug. The little stains only add character to the marble.” Future stains or not… it’s gorgeous. Throw in some wood, topiaries, and perfect lanterns and I’m 100% sold on this kitchen. (I’m a sucker for topiaries).

Even the outdoor gardens of Judith’s home are immaculately designed. Her home feels less like it’s in Atlanta and more like a resort.
Schindler describes her home’s look as “classically modern” with touches of Old Hollywood Glamour. “I noticed in California they were using more mirrors, chandeliers and lots of luxurious fabrics that re?ect light well,” she says. “It was all about bringing back this classic Hollywood era that everyone loves.”

Amazing house. I’m saving that last picture for inspiration – one day I will have a backyard like that!! I love the grid design they did with the tiles.
